Eminent Domain - A Loaded Gun

EMINENT DOMAIN - San Ramon Residents Protect Your Rights

Our elected City Council members, Dave Hudson and Jim Livingstone, have proposed to Re-establish the City's Authority to use Eminent Domain in the City of San Ramon over the next 12 years. A proposed Fourth Amendment to the Redevelopment Plan for the City of San Ramon will allow the City to take property away from private citizens and businesses for private and public purposes with potentially increasing taxes. The Redevelopment Agency is the City Council.

Today, Eminent Domain is being proposed for:

  • Crow Canyon Specific Plan (Beta Court)
  • Public/Private Proposed Redevelopment Activities
  • Implementation of Affordable Housing Projects Citywide
  • Alcosta Redevelopment Area

Deadline to file your statement of objections is March 14, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.
Send to Pat Edwards, City Clerk, regarding the City's proposed use of Eminent Domain.

Email: CityClerk@sanramon.ca.gov
Come to the Joint Public Hearing: March 14, 2006 at 6 p.m.

See my past commentaries on Eminent Domain in the San Ramon Observer, www.sanramonobserver.org. This is only being proposed for the Crow Canyon Redevelopment area and not any other portion of San Ramon at this time.

See my reply to the story on rezoning the golf courses.

In response to Roz's comments on Eminent Domain.
If the City Clerk receives a FLOOD OF EMAILS BEFORE THE DEADLINE ON MARCH 14th stating why EMINENT DOMAIN IS BAD POLITICS FOR SAN RAMON, then it should not be passed by the City Council, and not give (themselves) full authority to take property and businesses from Citizens for the next 12 years in San Ramon! Open your eyes and realize it is for the NEXT TWELVE YEARS! It will be used to implement Affordable Housing Citywide and for public/private proposed redevelopment activities citywide as well!
